AURORA – It was a special afternoon for three Waubonsie Valley seniors made more special by a 7-4 win over Neuqua Valley at Warrior Softball Field on Monday night.
Seniors Marissa Grimes, Anna Riggs and Mackenzie Ondrejcak all pitched in for the conference win. Riggs went 3-for-4 with one run, Ondrejcak went 2-for-4, and Grimes went 1-for-3 with one run.
Neuqua scored one in the first inning before the Warriors came back with six unanswered runs, led by a two-run home run from Lily Elsea in the fourth inning. Elsea finished the day 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and one run. Samantha Wiertelak went 1-for-1 with two runs and two walks.
Hannah Laub pitched all seven innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out four.
The Warriors travel to Wheaton-Warrenville South on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
